IS IT TAKING LONGER THAN YOU THOUGHT TO WRITE YOUR HIGH-RISE BUILDING EMERGENCY EVACUATION PLAN

PFSS writes customized Site-Specific Emergency Procedures Manuals.

The Emergency Procedures Manual is comprehensive, and will take some time to complete and will need to be approved by the LAFD before it can be implemented. It includes the written plan for evacuation of your building in case of Fire, Earthquake, Power Outages and Civil Unrest and of late will likely include Active Shooter and Building Collapse. Remember that the Emergency Procedures Manual is required to be updated annually. It is written for a "Real Fire Situation", not simply for the fire drill. It is written for the "Worst Case Scenario" without taking it to unrealistic extremes.

Whether you are a High-Rise building owner or property manager, PFS can help you with any issues regarding Emergency Procedures Planning and Life/Safety planning for your property.

  • You need a comprehensive review of your existing manual to bring your actual daily practices back in alignment with your existing manual.
  • You are a new High-Rise hotel or condo with a floor warden exemption, and don’t know where to get started on emergency procedures or life safety plan for the building
  • Are you an older commercial building, in existence for so long the life safety program is running on Life support and you need to bring it back to life?
  • Just found your Emergency procedures manual has not been updated in 3-years and it's now November.
  • Afraid to look at your emergency procedures manual, hoping nothing goes wrong, but you can just feel it coming?
  • You have a 20-year Legacy Staff member who is set in his/her ways, with bad habits that make it difficult to get everyone else to comply with your Life/Safety Program.

PFSS can help with that. Our experienced instructors and staff cover the gambit of situations in the life safety space and can quickly bring your High-Rise Manual, Staff, Occupants and required Certificates of completion up to speed, keeping your building safe and compliant.

The Los Angeles Municipal Code sets the emergency evacuation requirements for all high-rise buildings within the City of Los Angeles 75ft or higher.

The PFS online and in-person classroom trainings meet those requirements. Our training curriculum include the new LAFD site-specific annual training and certification for Fire Safety Directors (FSD), and its alternates, also the required FEMA Incident Command ICS-100b.

In addition, the PFS training curriculum provides for training and certification of Floor Wardens (FW), and its Alternates, Monitors, and other Designated Personnel, Essential Personnel, Occupants and FEMA Incident Command. We cover the required “What to do if you smell smoke or discover fire”, “Do you fight a fire”, “When the alarm sounds who calls the fire department”, “Who meets the fire department at the curb”, Building systems, Evacuation procedures, and “What to do if you find yourself trapped in your office with no exit?”.

Further, after reaching a minimum 80% passing score on the Online or In-person test, and the LAFD Required familiarization walk-through of certain building systems, all training participants on any level receive a printed site-specific certificate of completion, good for one year, approved by the Fire Chief, authorizing them to function as a member of the buildings Life/Safety Team when the building goes into emergency mode.

The Certificates shall only apply to that high-rise building. The owner of the building shall be responsible for paying the fees based on a one Floor Warden Certificate Fee and one Alternate Floor Warden fee per team member.
